To be surrounded by cheerful Faery Folk is to be cheerful oneself. To make them welcome is to welcome happiness, luck and love.

* Fairies are attracted to bowls of milk, barley, cake, sprinkles and glitter.

* Fairies are attracted to laughter.

* Fairies seem to gather where there are children playing.

* Fairies love nature, woodland animals and tending to flowers.

In order to attract the Faery Folk to your home or garden, there are a few things that you need to remember.

Respect Their Privacy Resist the temptation to go searching for them if you hear rustling or giggling. You would not your neighbour spying on you, don't do it to them. Once they get accustomed to you, they will begin to show themselves. Be Generous The Faery Folk like people who are open-hearted and share with others. This applies to people as well as animals. They have been known to reward generosity with inexhaustible wealth and punsih greediness with misery. Be Kind Harsh behaviours, "tough love", arguing and rudeness are neither appreciated nor understood by the Faery Folk. Rescuing an animal is highly looked upon, while cruelty to them will result in punishment. Be Neat The Faery Folk value a tidy home and consider sloppiness a major moral fault. "Bad" housekeepers have been known to have been pinched to the point of bruising, while neat housekeepers are rewarded with lasting prosperity and happiness. Be Fair Always keep your promises and honour your contracts to be rewarded. Inflicting hardship and acting with dishonesty is looked upon with disgust and will result in their displeasure. Be Loving Since they are considered remnants of fertility gods, the Faery Folk look favourably on romance. Although they are particular about fairness, they are not concerned with monogamy and fidelity. As long as there is kissing going on, they don't care who is doing it.

Attract Fairies

Quartz Glitter

First, wash the quartz with plain water and chant this verse over it.

"Fairies from afar; spread your blessings all around. Be safe and warm and welcome here, every season, every year. May our love and magic abound!"

Put the quartz in a window where sunlight can reach it. Go around your house and yard, sprinling glitter whenever you want to attract fairies.

They will soon arrive.

Small crystal bowl or chales

fruit juice

Pour a small amount of the fruit into the bowl or cup and chant the following:

"With this water of fruits I humbly somon thee, come now I ask to help and join with me,

with this water of fruits I choose to give to thee, to graciously take all that you need,

and all that I give, all you receive, friendships found and joy abounds."

Sit where the cat sits. Cross your toes. Close your eyes. And smell a rose.

Then say under your breath:

"I believe in fairies, sure as death."
